Each youth released on parole at the Akron Region must complete 10 hours of community
service before being released from parole. This approach has been very successful. Community
agencies are pleased with the work completed by our youth, and we received very
favorable comments from agency staff. Many different agencies participate in
the Akron Regions community service program, each possessing their own
specific needs.
Some of the agencies that they have worked with during the past year include:
- Salvation Army
- NAACP
- The Food Bank
- Miracle Tutoring and Learning Center
- Akron Rotary Camp
- Stark County Neighborhood Housing
- Perry Local School
- U.S. Postal Service
Some examples of projects that Akron Region completed during the year include:
- Folding and sorting clothes
- Filing, light maintenance, answering phones
- Stocking and packaging food
- Assisting young children with traffic safety
- Cleaning camp grounds
- Painting houses
- Re-shelving books
