Cuyahoga Hills Juvenile Correctional Facility (CHJCF) is a juvenile correctional facility
for males. It is located in Highland Hills a suburb of Cleveland, OH. The general population
consists of youth between the ages of 12 and 21 years, that are housed in one of eight open-dormitory style living units.
CHJCF works to provide professional, team-oriented juvenile correctional services
that serve to meet the vast needs of our youth population, agency, and the community
at large.
The Luther E. Ball High School is a fully accredited school located inside the facility that
offers regular and GED classes. Athletic fields inside a secure perimeter allow for sports,
such as baseball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and football.

Saturday and Sunday
Parents, legal guardians, and grandparents may visit the first weekend that the
youth is at CHJCF. Siblings may visit the second weekend, unless contradicted by the
youth's regional office. Alternative visits may be arranged if the youth is in a specialized
program that has its own requirements for visits.

Youth phone calls are only available on the pay phones on each unit. They must be collect calls
and be logged. Youth have at least weekly access to the phones. Youth in isolation may be
subject to losing their phone privileges.

Mail is received from the post office and distributed to youth after it is examined for
contraband. Youth should not write to, or receive mail from adults or youth that are
incarcerated in correctional facilities. Any mail received of that nature would be
returned to the sender. If the mail is from an incarcerated family member, the social
worker will contact the Regional Office to inquire as to whether the youth should receive
the mail.
