The SE-Columbus Regional Office has developed a program to meet specific needs of
the youths surrounding community. The Parole Officers and the youth have input into
the types of youth projects, and often suggest project sites. The Columbus Regional
Administrator is very committed to maximizing the potential of all regional programming, and
she emphasizes making the youth accountable for their actions. The following highlights some
of the regions community service involvement from the past year.
Some of the agencies that they have worked with during the past year include:
- Columbus Area Community Mental Health Center
- Fountain of Hope
- Mt. Herman Baptist Church
- Hoover Wetlands Preserve
- Gospel Extravaganza Fund Raiser
- Columbus Recreation and Parks
Some examples of projects that Columbus Region youth completed during the year include:
- Unloading food pantry trucks and stocking shelves
- Cleaning churches
- Cleaning public offices
- Clearing Debris
- Setting up and dismantling public events
- Assisting in recreation centers
