Juvenile Justice in Ohio

The majority of youth adjudicated delinquent for a felony level offense in Ohio are not committed to the Department of Youth Services. More than 80% of the youth adjudicated are served in the community or lower security facilities.


Adjudication

The final decision for a youth’s pending criminal case. Similar to a conviction in the adult court process.

Commitment

When a youth is sent by the court to the Ohio Department of Youth Services for incarceration.
