Ohio River Valley Juvenile Correctional Facility (ORVJCF) is a juvenile correctional
facility for males, located on 40 acres near Franklin Furnace, Ohio.
ORVJCF opened its doors on January 13, 1997 with the mission of providing an atmosphere
of safety and security. Fostering a therapeutic, pro-social environment where youth gain
the necessary tools to choose to live crime free upon their release.
ORVJCF serves various populations ranging from general population to low, moderate and
high risk sex offenders. Our population also includes low to moderate needs mental health youth.
Programs for the youth include - Thinking for a Change, Anger Management, Victim Awareness Program,
Relapse Prevention, Substance Abuse Education, Chemical Dependency Intervention Unit (CDIU); Sex
Offender Specific Program, and Transitions. The youth also have a chance to participate in various
vocational programs including masonry, residential wiring and administrative office technology.
The Ohio River Valley Juvenile Correctional Facility became accredited by the American
(ACA) on October 19, 1999, and completed the re-accreditation process in February 2006 with a score of 98.9%.
